Patrick Nunan RFD
Commencing his legal career as an Articled Clerk with law firm Quinlan Miller and Treston, Patrick Nunan was initially involved in Magistrates Court actions on behalf of insurers in property damages and personal injury claims.
Joining Cleary & Lee in 1974, Patrick became the Litigation partner as he conducted the defendant personal injury actions for clients including AAMI, SGIO (to become Suncorp) and the Workers' Compensation Board of Queensland (to become WorkCover Qld.). Cleary & Lee continues to be the solicitors acting for Suncorp/Metway Insurance Limited in personal injury claims heard throughout Queensland.
As Partner in charge of the firm's Litigation Section, Patrick oversees in excess of 200 personal injury actions on behalf of defendant insurers and plaintiffs in claims under the Acts covering Motor Vehicle Insurance, Motor Accident Insurance and WorkCover Qld.
Patrick has been involved in a significant number of personal injury cases acting for both the plaintiff and defendant insurer, and in paraplegic and quadriplegic cases involving substantial settlements.
Patrick's experience also extends to actions arising from aircraft and shipping accidents in various U.S. jurisdictions. As a result of numerous such actions - some resulting in substantial damages.
Patrick Nunan was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1972. He is a Solicitor of the Federal and High Courts of Australia, and having completed the Bond University Mediation Course in 1993, Patrick is an approved Mediator by the Queensland Law Society.
Patrick is a Member and Past President of Downs and South Western Law Association, as well as being a Member of the Australian Insurance Law Association and the Australian Aviation Law Institute.
