Cleary & Lee - a long record of service
One of the oldest Law Firms in Toowoomba, Cleary & Lee was established in 1919 when the firm's founder, Edward William Cleary purchased the Toowoomba Legal practice off the late Mr Frank Brennan (Later Mr Justice Brennan of the Queensland Supreme Court). In 1953, John Joseph Lee accepted an offer of partnership from E W Cleary with the firm changing its name to Cleary & Lee.
Over the years, the firm's partners included Alan Mason, Jim Garsden and Don Trenerry.
In 1974, Patrick (Pat) Nunan joined as a partner and in 1983 William (Bill) Nunan was admitted as a partner. The most recent partner to be admitted to Cleary & Lee is Danetta French who became a partner in May of 2006. John Edward Cleary, the son of the founding partner EW Cleary was admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1949 and retired in 2004 after 55 years of continuous practice as a solicitor. When he retired, John was Toowoomba's most senior legal practitioner.
Cleary & Lee Lawyers - since 31 December 2007 has been operated as 2 separate practices being Cleary & Lee Litigation with the principals being Pat Nunan and Danetta French and Cleary & Lee Commercial with Bill Nunan as principal.
